Because so many people are appliny for the same job as you, there will be a greater number of competitions that you need be beat in order to get that job that you really want. Because of this competition employers can now select who they think is the best for the job based on the interview and the potential employee’s cover letter. Because the cover letter is so important when it comes to beating your competitors in getting that job, you need to perfect your cover letter. If you have a lot of experience built up from the field you are going into, you will already have a head start over many people who have had no experience (which is common). When you are doing your interview, try to stand out from the others. Smile and bring on a warm and welcoming feeling towards the employer. Try to convince them that the job you are applying for is what you really want and have the passion for.
